What is ORMIR-XCT?¶
ORMIR-XCT is a Python package to analyze high resolution computed tomography (CT) images of bones.
Currently, we are working on the workflows to analyze images from High Resolution peripheral Quantitative CT (HR-pQCT).
In the future, we will add workflows for Micro CT (µCT) and Photon Counting Detector CT (PCDCT)
Why is ORMIR-XCT important?¶
So far, processing high resolution images has largely been supported using the scanner manufacturer’s scripting language. However, this does not allow researchers to have the flexibility to apply more advanced mathematical techniques and leverage modern software packages to improve image processing.
ORMIR-XCT is developed to reimplement and extend computational workflows so that we can advanced high resolution CT-based research in an open and reproducible way.
